I know the holidays are fast approaching. I'm suppose to met up the the rep for Conkerr cancer next week. I'll be able to tell you more then. I wasn't thinking about starting anything new till next year. I'm pretty tapped out. Did anyone see the Twist issue this past weekend? It was all on local women who volunteer in one way or another. There's a group of women who are trying to become a non-profit org. called chicks for charity. Sounds exactly like what we're starting here. Personally I like the name Team of Friends better! Anyway I found it an interesting read. If you didn't read it here's the link http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=TWIST&template=front . I liked the sharing hope with girls. Founding a nonprofit is the chicks article.
Still open for new, big ideas as I'm finding out it takes time to set things up. Think big ladies and if you don't think it can be done write it! We can make anything work.

That sounds like a great idea. My only concern is.....I'm thinking with the holidays coming up quickly it'll be difficult to get everyone together for this. The boys' meet season began this past weekend and we have 2 more before Christmas. Let me know your time frame and we'll see if we can come up with some dates. Were you hoping to do this before the holidays?

On another note....Olympia Gymnastics Academy sent out a memo last week....Traci and Kristie, you may have seen it....they are sponsoring several foster kids for Christmas. They sent home a note listing each child's name, age (they range from baby to teens), clothing size and interests....If you're interested in sponsoring these kids and don't have the memo let me know and I'll type out the list.

Conkerr Cancer

I was at the right place at the right time when I heard of this organization. They are just getting representation in Michigan and I'm working with them to help get things started. The basic concept of this group is to make fun, colorful pillowcases for children who come into the hospitals for their cancer treatments. I thought it would be fun and simple for us to get together and cut and sew some cases. Here's their site if you want more info http://www.conkerrcancer.org/ .
What do you think?
